Skellefteå Hospital
CG Solutions has been trusted by ByggDialog and Region Västerbotten to take part in the development of the new healthcare building at Skellefteå Hospital. It is a major public project that combines high technical requirements with complex design, careful coordination and a clear focus on creating a strong and reliable healthcare environment for the future.
CG Solutions is responsible for the design, delivery and installation of the structural frame. The new healthcare building will cover approximately 38,700 square metres and will be six storeys high in the northern section. The design work began in 2023, and the main installation is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The size of the project and its long timeline require careful planning and coordination throughout the entire process.
A hospital environment places special demands on both the structure and the construction process. The building will include intensive care units, operating rooms, an emergency department, laboratories and radiology facilities. This means that factors such as hygiene zones, natural frequency requirements, vibrations and heavy medical equipment need to be considered. MRI scanners place high demands on both structural design and transport routes, laboratories are sensitive to vibrations, and operating rooms contain a large number of installations that need to be coordinated with the structural frame. The building will also have a helipad on the roof, which places additional demands on the structure. Future needs must also be considered during the design stage to create a building that can be developed and adapted over time.
The project is divided into seven stages that follow the entire process and create important milestones for CG Solutions, suppliers, factories and other parties involved. When one part of the structural frame is completed, many other teams need to be able to continue their work. This makes every handover and every stage important for the project as a whole. Close cooperation with ByggDialog, Region Västerbotten and the other contractors is a central part of the work. In a public project of this size, it is important that everyone works towards the same goal.
