New municipal high school in Slakthusområdet
Slakthusområdet in Stockholm is currently seeing the construction of the first municipal high school built in the city in over 40 years—a milestone that makes it especially rewarding for us to be the supplier of load-bearing elements. The project is developed by Atrium Ljungberg, with Skanska serving as the main contractor.
Our responsibility is a design-build contract for the building’s structural frame, working in close collaboration with Skanska to ensure efficient processes and strong sustainability measures.
Set to rise five stories tall, the building’s design is inspired by the area’s cultural heritage. Construction began in April 2024, and when the 2026 academic year starts, the doors will open to welcome 800 students.
A key highlight is the delivery and installation of 2,000 m² of colored concrete façade elements and 700 m² of polished terrazzo façade elements. The polished terrazzo also appears in 11 benches of the same material, integrated into the façade. Our delivery further comprises approximately 6,000 m² of hollow-core slabs (HDF), 130 tons of steel, 1,800 m² of V-walls, and installation of the client-supplied external wall panels and lightweight roofing elements.
